2009 Album Preview: Deftones - Eros

Chino Moreno say:
The songs are definitely weird, which is a breath of fresh air to me… I want the album to be as weird as we can possibly make it without completely alienating people. If I had to compare it to any of our records, then I think it probably reminds me of White Pony the most. There’s a lot of atmosphere and a lot of soundscaping. I couldn’t feel better about it at the moment.

The STROKES in 2009

The Strokes' bassist, Nikolai Fraiture, recently said that the band is planning to start work on a new album in 2009. In London this week to play a solo gig, he told the BBC that the band's other commitments caused the delay in recording a follow-up to their 2006 release, 'First Impressions of Earth'. He said; "We are looking at going into the studio in February now and getting back to being a band again. It started with Nick [Valensi, guitarist] having twins with his wife and he asked for a good amount of time off. After about six months he was ready to come back but other members of the band were doing their own thing. Albert (Hammond Jr, guitarist) was doing his thing with his solo project and Julian (Casablancas, vocalist) needed time off. One thing led to another so studio time kept getting pushed back". Fraiture, who for his solo work goes by the alias Nickel Eye, releases his debut album, 'The Time of The Assassins' (with guest appearances by Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Regina Spektor.
